BudgetSprout ("the app") is a personal expense tracker and budget planner. We built it so your financial information stays private. Everything you enter lives on your own device — this policy explains exactly what that means.
The app keeps the things you create — transactions, recurring transaction rules, budgets, category limits, your display name, and preferences such as your chosen currency — in your device's local storage. The app may use an on-device identifier to remember your settings and provide basic functionality.
All of this stays on your device. The app does not require you to create an account or provide an email address, phone number, or any personal contact details.
Your information is used only on your device, and only to make the app work: to show your dashboard, draw your charts, track your budgets, and unlock milestones. It is not used for any other purpose.
Your information is saved in your device's local storage and remains there until you delete it from within the app or remove the app. Deleting the app erases all of the information it stored.
BudgetSprout includes a Backup & Restore feature so you control your own data. You can export a backup file, export your transactions as a CSV spreadsheet, or copy a backup to your clipboard. These files are created on your device.
A backup leaves your device only when you choose to send it somewhere using your device's standard share sheet — for example saving it to Files, AirDrop, or emailing it to yourself. The destination you pick is handled by that app or service, not by BudgetSprout. Restoring simply reads backup text you paste back in.
We do not sell your information, and the app does not transmit your data to us or to any third party on its own. The app contains no advertising and no usage-analytics tools. The only time anything leaves your device is when you deliberately use the share or export options described above, or tap "Share BudgetSprout," which shares a short invitation message that contains none of your financial data.
BudgetSprout is not directed to children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You stay in control of everything in the app. You can edit or delete any transaction, budget, or preference at any time. Removing the app permanently erases all stored data.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
